dc.description Thesis (M.S., Recreation Administration)--California State University, Sacramento, 2019. en_US
dc.description.abstract Through a constructivist worldview and the use of the Conceptual Framework of Carl Rogers’s Humanistic Theory, along with advocacy of RT’s use of the strengths-based approach, evidence-based practice, and the holistic approach, this case study provides insight into the therapeutic use of journal writing. The single case study was a 77-year-old male from the Silent Generation who was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder among other coexisting disorders. Using a grounded theory approach, the researcher created rich, conceptual understandings of this written human experience. Four main themes- Symptoms, Responses, Self-Medicating, and Resilience were revealed. en_US
