Title: Accurate electromagnetic simulation of near-field performance of an X-band array for hyperthermia therapy applications
Author: Arikatla, Sandhya; Modini, Santosh Babu
Abstract: This project will focus on the application of an advanced electromagnetic simulation software: 4nec2 for the near-field characterization of a 3-element X-band array of waveguide and horn antennas. Previous modeling efforts have shown a significant difference between simulated and measured data. The key effort in this project will be to minimize the difference between simulated and measured data by use of the 4nec2 software. The simulation will be carried out on both a 3-element array of open-ended waveguides and a 3-element array of circular horn antennas. The main application of these arrays is in microwave hyperthermia treatment of tumors by focused heating.
