Title: The heart of a community: the application of visual communication in a congenital heart disease community It's My Heart
Author: Moyer, Tamara L.
Abstract: This project focuses on the application of The Syntactic Theory of Visual Communication and its three tenets. These tenets suggest that words and images have equal importance, symbolic meaning, and are used to culturally describe a community. This project employs the use of photography and participant statements in an attempt to apply the tenets. This project focused on a congenital heart disease community known as It’s My Heart. This project reveals that The Syntactic Theory of Visual Communication can be applied as a means of creating visual messages that describe a community.
