Abstract:

Fiber optic communication systems consist of various optical component systems
including optical sources, fibers and detectors with unique characteristics that ultimately
determine system performance. FOSDET is an educational tool designedfor student use
to better understand the interaction between the key components of the communication
system. The impact of different configurations and device parameters on the overall
system performance is studied with the aid of computer simulation. |
