dc.description Project (M.A., Education (Curriculum and Instruction)) -- California State University, Sacramento, 2010. en_US
dc.description.abstract The purpose of this Culminating Experience Project was to incorporate the use of movement-based activities into the standards based classroom. Real education can’t be “given” to children but rather it must be “grasped” by them. Children like to sing, play, and laugh naturally. This author’s research indicates that movement is valuable in a number of ways: movement gets kids motivated, balanced, better able to concentrate and improves learning in the classroom. Moving is learning! This Project is an Alternative Culminating Experience for a Master of Arts in Education: Curriculum and Instruction with an Elective Emphasis on Arts in Education. The project had several objectives. One, the author researched what brain-based learning was and what effects and benefits movement had on learning. Second, this project enhanced development of the researcher’s reflective journey to becoming an arts educator. The third objective was to incorporate what the author had learned iv through this process into daily classroom practice. The overall goal was how to most effectively integrate and teach movement activities to enhance curriculum. en_US
